Graphic/Web Designer - AUB - Lebanon

The University Libraries has an opening for the position of Graphic/Web Designer, above grade - Since this provides an opportunity for promotion from within, please circulate this information and/or post it in your area of jurisdiction so that those interested and having the minimum qualifications may apply in writing to the Human Resources Department (Employment Section) not later than July 27.

The Graphic/Web Designer is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all Library design initiatives, including Library web pages, user interfaces for digital projects and in-house developed databases, as well as exhibits, posters and other Library outreach materials to promote the Libraries' collections and services. He/she works closely with Librarians and the University IT team to carry these design projects through the design, development, implementation and assessment cycle. -

Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Graphic or Web Design, Masters is a plus.
- Five years working experience in related field.
- Experience in developing websites and/or web applications, exhibits, posters and flyers; Graphics and digital photography experience is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of best practices and tools used in user-centered interaction design; strong visual design skills, including an eye for good typography, composition, and use of color.
- Proficiency in graphics creation with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (Adobe Creative Suite), multimedia creation with Flash, ActionScript, (Macromedia Studio).
- Knowledge in web components such as HTML, CSS, Java Server Pages and Java, IIS, Windows Server Environment, PHP5+, Perl and MySQL.
- Experience using a CMS system such as Drupal and its custom modules
- Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work by tight deadlines
- Project management and leadership skills: Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational, verbal communication, technical writing, editing, and people skills
